Vivo seems to have joined hands with general insurance company HDFC Ergo to offer life insurance scheme to its customers upon purchasing a Vivo handset. Amidst the COVID-19 pandemic, Vivo is bundling a life insurance amount with every Vivo smartphones, including those priced in the budget segment. As per the image (shown below) shared with Appandphones by retail sources, the HDFC Ergo sum insured will vary based on the price of the Vivo phone. For a Vivo smartphone priced below Rs 9,990, you’ll get Rs 1,00,000 sum insured. This goes up to Rs 10,00,000 for the handsets priced Rs 40,000 or above.

We have reached out to Vivo for more details on the scheme, including how a customer can purchase the insurance with the handset, duration of the insurance, and whether this is valid for both offline and online purchase. We will update the story as and when we receive new information from the company. Since Vivo is yet to officially announce this scheme, this is all the details we can provide at the moment.

Separately, Vivo is celebrating the 74th Independence Day with offers on a range of its smartphones, including the newly launched Vivo X50 series, V19 and Y50 across offline and online platforms until August 16th. The offers include up to Rs 4,000 cashback with HDFC and ICICI bank debit and credit card on X50 series. Additionally, there is one-time screen replacement by paying Rs 1,990 on X50 series and Rs 999 on V19 at the time of service/repair at authorized Vivo service centres within 6 months. Customers can also avail lowest EMI options starting at Rs 999 with Bajaj Finserv and up to Rs 4,000 cashback with Federal Bank Debit Card and EMI transactions, among other offers during the sale.
