Samsung Galaxy Note 20 series is scheduled to launch on August 5th at the Unpacked event. The company will likely be following its typical trend of using a Snapdragon chipset for the South Korea, China, and USA markets, and Exynos chipset for Europe, India and Africa. The Snapdragon-powered Galaxy Note 20 may launch with the newly announced Snapdragon 865 Plus SoC, while the Exynos variants were initially tipped to come with the new Exynos 992 chipset. However, it turns out that won’t be the case as it is now being said by tipsters Ice Universe and Max Winebach that the Exynos-powered Galaxy Note 20 models will use the same Exynos 990 SoC seen on the Galaxy S20 series.

Samsung Galaxy Note 20 Exynos 990

The Exynos 992 SoC was touted to be slightly more powerful than the Exynos 990 SoC. Samsung was reported to be working on the chipset after it received backlash from users for the Exynos counterpart not being as powerful as the Snapdragon SoC. The former was found lagging behind in terms of performance and also battery optimisation. With the South Korean giant settling to the Exynos 990, there should be a much wider gap between it and the latest Snapdragon 865 Plus SoC.

Separately, Samsung Galaxy Z Flip 5G model is expected to debut on the same stage. It is expected to be powered by the Qualcomm Snapdragon 865/865 Plus SoC and have 5G connectivity. The phone should have a similar design and hardware as the original Galaxy Z Flip.
