POCO M2 Pro (review), which was launched in India on Tuesday, has been priced competitively to take on the likes of some of the popular smartphones in the sub-Rs 15,000 category. We’ve already compared the POCO M2 Pro with Redmi Note 9 Pro and Realme 6. Now, it’s time to pit the handset with Samsung Galaxy M21 (review), which is a considerable option in the price point. The POCO M2 Pro key specifications include an FHD+ dot notch display, Snapdragon 720G SoC, 48MP quad rear cameras, and 33W fast charging. Here is a price and specs-based comparison of the phone with Samsung Galaxy M21 to see which one offers better value for money.

POCO M2 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy M21: design, display

Both phones tout different design language. The POCO M2 Pro ships with a 6.67-inch FHD+ Dot notch display with centre-positioned punch-hole cutout, a standard 60Hz refresh rate and 20:9 aspect ratio. There is a Gorilla Glass 5 protection both on the front as well as at the back and a side-mounted fingerprint scanner for security. The phone features dual-tone finish and a quad camera setup in a squarish module with the LED flash just below at the back.

The Samsung Galaxy M21, meanwhile, flaunts a polycarbonate body with no glass layer at the back. The fascia of the phone rocks a 6.4-inch Super AMOLED Infinity-U screen with FHD+ resolution, 60Hz refresh rate, and Corning Gorilla Glass 3 protection. The phone features triple rear cameras in a rectangular module and a centre-aligned rear-mounted fingerprint scanner. Both POCO M2 Pro and Samsung Galaxy M21 sport volume rocker and power button on the right spine and a Type-C port, a headphone jack, and a single speaker grille at the bottom edge.

POCO M2 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy M21: chipset, software

At the helm of the POCO M2 Pro lies gaming-focused Snapdragon 720G chipset, which is a tad powerful than Samsung Galaxy M21’s Exynos 9611. Both phones ship with up to 6GB RAM and 128GB user-expandable storage and customised Android 10 OS running out of the box. While the POCO phone boots MIUI 11 with POCO launcher, the Samsung Galaxy M21 has OneUI 2.0 skin running atop the Android.

POCO M2 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy M21: cameras

In optics, the POCO M2 Pro rocks quad camera setup at the back, which comprises a 48MP primary sensor, 8MP ultra-wide sensor, 5MP macro sensor, and 2MP depth sensor. The front camera of the phone features 16MP snapper with night mode for selfies and video calling.

The Samsung Galaxy M21 has a slightly better 20MP front camera resolution but sports only triple-rear camera setup. The setup includes 48MP primary sensor, 8MP secondary snapper, and 5MP depth sensor. Unlike POCO, there is no macro sensor to click the photos of the subjects up close.

POCO M2 Pro vs Samsung Galaxy M21: battery, connectivity

Connectivity options on both the phones include dual SIM support, 4G LTE, Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, GPS, 3.5mm headphone jack, and Type-C port for charging.

The handset has premium-looking glass sandwich design, mid-range Snapdragon 720G chipset with 2.3GHz clock speed, quad rear camera setup, and impressive 33W fast charging. The Samsung Galaxy M31, however, gets you a better display, a massive 6,000mAh battery, 20MP front camera, and respectable Exynos 9611 SoC with 2.3GHz clock speed.
