“The iQOO 3 is set to be India’s first 5G smartphone, as well as the first to run on the Snapdragon 865 SoC.”
Vivo sub-brand iQOO has sent out media invites for the launch of its first smartphone in India, the iQOO 3. The official confirmation of the launch corroborates a report by Appandphones, which had stated that the smartphone will be launched in India on the same day as China i.e, February 25th. The confirmation of the launch date for the iQOO 3 means that India is now set to get its first 5G-enabled smartphone, as well as the first smartphone to be powered by the Snapdragon 865 SoC. The official email from the company also confirms the iQOO 3 name of the smartphone.
While this much has been confirmed, there have also been plenty of leaks and rumours about the rest of the iQOO 3 specifications. According to a TENAA certification listing, the iQOO 3 is expected to feature up to 12GB of LPDDR5 RAM, while the positioning of the phone in the premium segment suggests it should come with either 128GB or 256GB of internal storage. Up front, it is expected to feature a 6.44-inch, full HD+ AMOLED display with 20:9 aspect ratio, while it is not yet clear if the smartphone will feature a punch-hole front camera, or use a notch for that. Live images leaked of the smartphone show a punch-hole design, but confirmation is awaited on the same.
Teaser posters have revealed the iQOO 3 will feature quad cameras on the back, which rumours suggest can include a 48-megapixel unit, two 13-megapixel units and one 2-megapixel unit. A 16-megapixel front camera is also expected to be present, while the smartphone may house a 4,410mAh battery with 55W fast charging support. So far, there have been no mention of the possible pricing of the iQOO 3, but going by reports, the smartphone may be priced within Rs 40,000 in India.
