“The Facebook Messenger app for laptops and desktops is now available for download in the Microsoft Store and Mac App Store”
Facebook has released the desktop version of its Messenger app for desktop and laptop. Facebook Messenger, which is among the most popular social messaging platforms, can now be installed on both Windows and macOS-powered devices. This should make life easier for users who prefer the Messenger app over the web browser experience. The Messenger app for desktops is now available for download in the Microsoft Store and Mac App Store, just like smartphones. Having said that, you’ll still be able to use Messenger on web browsers for video calls and text communication.
The Facebook Messenger app for desktop weighs over 100MB and comes with the same feature that you find on the mobile app. There is the option for group video calls (which are in rage these days, check out the best video calling app), standard text messaging, desktop notifications, chats synced across devices, dark mode, GIFs, stickers, and emojis, among other things. The mobile version of the app is already available for download on both iOS and Google Play Store.
According to Stan Chudnovsky Messenger VP, “over the past month, we saw more than a 100% increase in people using their desktop browser for audio and video calling on Messenger. Now with apps for macOS and Windows, the best of Messenger is coming to desktop, including unlimited and free group video calls.”
In related news, Facebook Messenger has added an automated information service that offers regular updates from across the world about the coronavirus pandemic to its platform. The information hub will offer the latest count of coronavirus patients, cured individuals and deaths from across the world, news updates from authentic sources, and articles that are aimed at curbing the spread of misinformation and myths on coronavirus. The Messenger relies on World Health Organisation (WHO), the United States Centre for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC), and the UNICEF for the information.
