“OnePlus 8 Lite specifications may include a triple camera setup, a 4,000mAh battery, and the MediaTek Dimensity 1000 SoC”
The OnePlus 8 series is expected to go official in India and globally around sometime in April. The company for the first time is reportedly working on a Lite version dubbed for the lineup. Now, we have received some exclusive information regarding the OnePlus 8 Lite specifications courtesy tipster Ishan Agarwal. We have learned that the handset will launch with a 90Hz refresh rate, punch-hole display, and MediaTek chipset, all of which have been rumoured about in the past as well. Along with this, we have learnt the OnePlus 8 Lite price, which might give us an indication of the positioning of the smartphone.
OnePlus 8 Lite price, India launch
Starting with the OnePlus 8 Lite price, Agarwal says the handset will cost GBP 400, which translates to roughly Rs 37,500. Now, that may seem like a steep price, but the official OnePlus 7T price in the UK is GBP 549, which is equivalent of Rs 51,000. Therefore we can expect the OnePlus 8 Lite to be priced similarly lower in the Indian market when it launches here, irrespective of how much it costs in other countries.
The tipster also adds that the OnePlus 8 Lite will be available in India as well as worldwide by July. However, there is no confirmation whether the launch event or the release will be in the month of July. In fact, an early launch is also possible.
OnePlus 8 Lite specifications
Back in December Appandphones brought you exclusive OnePlus 8 Lite renders, which revealed the smartphone’s centre-aligned hole-punch for the selfie camera. This is in line with what we have been told. Moreover, unlike the vanilla 8 and the Pro model that will feature 120Hz displays, the Lite handset is said to have a 90Hz display. Lastly, we have learnt it will sport a MediaTek chipset, which may be the Dimensity 1000 SoC according to the rumour mill.
Earlier reports suggest the OnePlus 8 Lite could come with a 6.4-inch AMOLED display, boot Android 10 OS and have an in-display fingerprint sensor for security. In terms of optics, the handset is said to have a 48MP primary sensor, a 16MP secondary lens, and a 12MP unit. It is expected to pack a 4,000mAh battery with 30T Warp fast-charging support be available in two variants: 8GB + 128GB and 8GB + 256GB internal storage. The very existence of OnePlus 8 Lite version suggests that the OnePlus 8 and OnePlus 8 Pro could be costlier than their predecessors. We should know more details going forward.

On the front, the phone will have a 32MP snapper for selfies and video chats. It is said to arrive in three models: 6GB + 128GB, 8GB + 128GB and 12GB + 256GB UFS 3.0 storage. On the other hand, the Pro variant is tipped to feature quad cameras with an additional ToF sensor. The smartphone is said to house a 4,500 mAh battery and support 10V 5A Super Warp fast charging.
