According to the Chinese language version of the OnePlus forum, it appears that we have some good news and bad news pertaining to the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T. The good news is that Android 11 is going to be made available for those phones. But since this is not really a big deal and was expected anyway, you know that the bad news has to be very bad! And it is. While an earlier leaked roadmap indicated that we would see the Android 11 update hit the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T sometime this month, we now know that there is a delay and we might not see the latest Android OS build disseminated to these models until next year.”
After all, it is now more than halfway through December which increases the odds that the Android 11 update will arrive sometime in 2021 for the OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T. The delay is being caused by a problem that OnePlus has discovered on the phones with the encryption of data while running Android 11. And while the announcement is specifically related to the Chinese version of the software known as Hydrogen OS, it seems likely that the U.S. version (known as Oxygen OS) will be impacted as well. Oxygen OS shares a code base with Hydrogen OS.

Hopefully OnePlus 7 and OnePlus 7T owners won’t have to wait terribly long for an update from OnePlus that delivers Android 11 to their phones.
