“Mi Watch Pro may come with a more powerful processor, presumably the upcoming Snapdragon Wear 3300 SoC, which also explains the delay in the launch”
Xiaomi Mi Watch was launched earlier this week alongside Mi CC9 Pro smartphone and Mi TV 5 series. The design looks similar to the Apple Watch as it flaunts a familiar squarish form factor, bezel-less display, and a digital crown on the edge like the Apple Watch Series 5. It comes with Wi-Fi, NFC, Bluetooth, GPS, and multiple watch faces for customisation. However, Chinese blogger, @Digital Chat Station now claims that there is a Pro version of the Mi Watch, and it is tipped to rock a circular dial. Unfortunately, the launch isn’t anytime soon and might still be a couple of months away from now.
Considering it’s the Pro model, there should be more to it than just a different design. It may come with a more powerful processor, presumably the upcoming Snapdragon Wear 3300 SoC, which also explains the delay in the launch. Additionally, it should also come with more RAM and larger onboard storage. The Mi Watch Pro is also expected to run MIUI for Watch, eSIM, NFC and Wi-Fi support and pack a slightly bigger battery.
There’s also a possibility the Mi Watch Pro might come with wireless charging support, which is missing on the standard model. Since the regular Mi Watch costs RMB 1,299 (around Rs 13,000), the Pro model should cost upwards of RMB 1,500 (around Rs 15,200). The Pro model should also come with fitness tracking features such as heart rate monitor, step counter, calories burnt, and sleep mode. We should learn more details in the next few weeks.
